Looking for ways to keep cool this summer? There are plenty of things to do with your pooch around the central San Joaquin valley! Here is a list of pet-friendly activities!

  1. Explore the great outdoors. Your local park is always a great go-to spot for you and your pup, but did you know that some national parks are now dog-friendly? Yosemite National Park allows pets on fully paved trails in the park, as well as in most campgrounds, and has enough amazing sights and sounds (and smells!) to make a memorable trip for you both. Find out more at the Yosemite National Park’s pet information page. There are also many more dog-friendly beaches up and down the state; a quick Google search brings dozens of results!
  2. Check out some pet-friendly events. These can be anything from dog-specific benefits, like Fresno Bully Rescue’s upcoming Bully Walk, to food festivals and street or craft fairs around the state. Do your homework and you can find plenty of great events that you and your pup can enjoy. BringFido is a good resource, but you can always check the website of the event you’d like to attend to see if your furry friend can tag along!
  3. Shop ’til you drop. Many major California shopping destinations now cater to canine style, too. There are quite a few indoor and outdoor shopping centers that are pet-friendly, including the Westfield chain of malls (found throughout northern and southern California) as well as Newport’s Fashion Island and Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza. There’s a good chance that your local mall welcomes on-leash pets, too; just check their website to find out.
  4. Splash in the pools at Elaine’s Pet Resorts! Our pools are open year-round, but they’re the ultimate escape during the hot summer months. Bring your best friend for a fun-filled day of running and playing in our landscaped water parks, where they can enjoy our beach-front entry pools, fountains, and specialized play equipment. There’s no better place to cool off this summer!
